On January 21-22, the Hershey Centre’s Main Bowl was the centre of some major activity as the Foundation partnered with Scotiabank to present Scotiabank Skates for Credit Valley. This exciting and new event for Scotiabank employees, clients, customers and friends to come out and celebrate hockey, while raising funds for The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, was a huge success with more than $146,000 raised to date!
The weekend kicked off with an old-timer hockey tournament between six teams, including one team of Credit Valley's own docs - who went on to win the gold medal!
Spirited Mayor Hazel McCallion donned her hockey skates for a few laps around the rink during the afternoon Family Skate, sponsored by Tim Horton’s, on Saturday. She never ceases to amaze!
Sunday morning bright and early saw a number of young hockey players from the Mississauga Hockey League come out to participate in a skills competition put on by Just Shoot It. The young super stars were thrilled to meet Former Maple Leaf team captain and former Mississauga Ice Dogs coach Rick Vaive, who showed them a few pointers and signed more than a few pucks!
The weekend was capped off by an OHL game on Sunday with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors competing against the Saginaw Spirit. Unfortunately the Majors didn’t win, but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of what had been an incredible weekend of community spirit and support.
