Position: Director of Social Engagement, Ambassadors’ Council
Position type: Volunteer, part-time (10 hours/month), flexible
Organization: The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, Mississauga

The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation is currently raising money for their Lifetime of Care $45 million campaign. This campaign will bring major improvements to the health care services in this community. Scheduled to open in 2011, the new 270,000 square foot facility will provide additional space for obstetrics, labour and delivery, special care nursery, paediatrics, palliative care, genetics, laboratory and additional operating rooms.

What’s the opportunity?

The Ambassadors’ Council – working under the auspices of the Foundation’s board of directors – is seeking an energetic individual with demonstrated leadership abilities who is interested in joining a dynamic team of young professional volunteers to support the Lifetime of Care campaign.  This individual will contribute towards the Council’s strategic direction and provide implementation guidance for fundraising events and volunteer drives, leveraging personal relationships and contacts in the Mississauga area.

The individual will interact with different networks of professionals at various events in the community, during which solid and lasting relationships will be built with like-minded people based on shared values.  Exposure to healthcare and Foundation leaders will provide great learning opportunities particularly regarding the continuous refinement of effective fundraising and negotiation methods with individual donors and corporate sponsors.

Roles and Responsibilities?

  • Spearhead the development and management of a strong database and social network
  • Identify appropriate communications strategies for database engagement and growth
  • Engage a personal network of Mississauga and Oakville young professionals to participate in Young Ambassador activities and events
  • Act as the primary host at Young Ambassador social and fundraising events

Qualifications?

  • Out-going and energetic team player
  • Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving skills
  • 5 years of progressive work experience
  • University degrees and professional diplomas are strongly encouraged
  • Experience with fundraising is an asset
